As fans await the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, it was recently announced that Chris Evans will return alongside Anthony Mackie.
Chris Evan is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a cast member in Avengers: Doomsday. Although his role is currently unknown, he will be involved in some capacity. Alongside Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie will also be returning as he takes on the role of Captain America from Avengers: Endgame to his latest movie, Captain America: Brave New World.
After stepping down from the role of Captain America at the end of Avengers: Endgame and passing his torch to his trusty sidekick and friend, Sam Wilson aka Falcon, it marked the end to the character of Chris Evans’s iconic character as Steve Rogers aka Captain America. Although he stepped down from the role, he had recently returned to the MCU briefly as he dons the role of Johnny Storm from Fox’s Fantastic Four in the acclaimed Deadpool & Wolverine film.
Before it was confirmed by The Wrap, it was long rumoured he would return to the MCU but didn’t seem possible at the time since his Steve Rogers character was an old man. But that was until Robert Downy Jr, who played Iron Man in his standalone films and Avengers movies as he sacrificed his life at the end of Avengers: Endgame, returned as Tony Stark variant and took on the role of Doctor Doom for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, leaving a bigger chance for Chris Evan to return until confirmation.
Alongside Chris Evans returning, it was confirmed Anthony Mackie will be joining along as he is currently Captain America following the end of Avengers: Endgame and starring in his latest film, Captain America: Brave New World. But with Mackie taking on the role of Captain America and the fate of Johnny Storm in the latest Deadpool movie, it is very curious what role Chris Evan will have. The new Fantastic Four film will cast Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach and they will also be featured in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
