Bloober Team’s next foray into the survival horror genre, Cronos: The New Dawn, has been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2 and is set to launch this September.
The news was revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase. Cronos: The New Dawn is not only coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, but its release date for all platforms has now been confirmed. The dystopian survival horror title is described in CGMagazine’s preview as “one of the darkest, most oppressive game worlds I have ever explored”—a notable achievement for a studio already known for reviving Silent Hill 2 on consoles in 2024.
The latest trailer, including the release date, can be seen below.
In Cronos: The New Dawn, players take on the role of the Traveller, an agent of a secret collective. The goal is to uncover the mysteries of a fractured world by navigating a dystopian, time-jumping survival horror narrative. For the first time, time-travel mechanics and character upgrade systems were showcased in the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase trailer.
The new footage also introduced the concept of Soul Harvesting, offering players their first real glimpse at the characters they’ll meet during their journey into the past.
In an interview with CGMagazine, Game Director and Lead Writer Jacek Ziemba said the idea behind Cronos: The New Dawn is to hit the player with feelings of intense alienation and isolation, so atmosphere and tone are the most important driving factors behind the player in Cronos. Ziemba suggests Dead Space as inspiration, but “Dead Space is much faster.”

Cronos: The New Dawn will launch worldwide on September 5, and is now available for preorder on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox marketplaces. Fans can find more information regarding the survival horror title on the official Bloober Team website.
