Atmospheric Psychological Horror Farming Sim Crop Revealed at Triple-I Initiative

Watch Out For Cthulhu

Crop Promises To Be An Atmospheric Psychological Horror Farming Sim

11 bit studios and Carbonara Games have announced their latest project, Crop, a gritty and mysterious farming game, at today’s Triple-I Initiative.

Freeing yourself from the trunk of a crashed car is how Crop starts off its story, which immediately throws you into a mysterious world where you have to farm to survive. Planting crops and harvesting them is the only path that keeps you safe from unknown entities lurking in the fog. Unlike other farming games, the land has picked you instead of the other way around, and an entire village is relying on your harvest to survive.

The small town that you find yourself in is completely severed from the world at large, which means that the only way to keep sane and investigate your circumstances is to till those fields. However, the odds really are stacked against you, as the previous owner has completely choked the life out of a once verdant plot of land. You must cut down grass to stop pests from plaguing your land while also making compost and other necessities needed to improve the farm. Sometimes you have to wear a raincoat to combat storms, and sometimes you’re placing scarecrows to keep the birds away.

But why and how did you end up working a farm in the middle of who knows where? Well, you have to figure that out while still keeping the farm alive. Balancing the investigation with farming is the challenge because every crop grown is a life saved in the village, but every investigation made is a piece of the puzzle of your own past life.

According to the release, poking around and looking for clues is hard at first because you know no one and no one knows you, but eventually things start to happen. For example, a villager may attempt to bribe you to only give food to them; it’s up to you to accept or not. Whether you do or don’t, it won’t stop you from uncovering the truth one tidbit at a time.

11 bit studios has yet to reveal Crop‘s release date, but the gameplay should last for about 15 hours when it does come out.
