GKIDS drops a trailer for DAN DA DAN Season 2’s first three episodes, coming to the big screen across North America on June 6, 2025.

GKIDS is bringing the hit anime series back to the big screen to promote the second season. On Thursday, May 15, 2025, GKIDS began streaming English-dubbed and English-subtitled trailers for DAN DA DAN: EVIL EYE—the theatrical premiere for DAN DA DAN Season 2. Tickets are already on sale now, with a June 6th release date. Like the first season, the film is coming to North America just a month before the television premiere airing in Japan on July 3rd.

Many production staff members are returning from season 1 to produce DAN DA DAN: EVIL EYE, including Fūga Yamashiro and Abel Góngora (storyboarder and unit director on the first season, respectively) are both credited as directors on the new season at Science SARU. DAN DA DAN: First Encounter, the theatrical screening of the first three episodes in Season 1, earned an estimated US$1,005,531 during its limited-time screening in the U.S. in September.

Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan The Final Season, Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, Mob Psycho 100) supervised and wrote the series scripts. Composer kensuke ushio (Chainsaw Man, DEVILMAN crybaby, Liz and the Blue Bird) scored the music. Naoyuki Onda (Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc) designed the characters, and Yoshimichi Kameda (Mob Psycho 100) designed the aliens and supernatural entities. Hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts performed the opening theme song “Otokone,” and ZUTOMAYO performed the ending theme song “TAIDADA.” Fans will perk their ears up to hear how the new music will live up to Creepy Nuts’ hype intro song.

The DAN DA DAN anime is based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga, which began serialization on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service on April 6, 2021. On April 4th, 2025, Shueisha published the 19th compiled book volume. Viz Media publishes the manga in English and released the 12th volume on April 1.

CGMagazine’s review of DAN DA DAN Season 1 gave it a 10/10, where I noted, “The camera in this series focuses and goes to and through places many shows would not go.” I also pointed out that “the show “blend[s] different animation styles to enhance the action or comedy on screen.” Another standout feature is Yamashiro’s shot selections, investing in more complicated animation shots than the typical anime series. The expert use and playing around with colouring throughout the show is another amazing storytelling device featured in DAN DA DAN Season 1.

Science SARU hopes to capture the same magic from Season 1, adding a new threat with Evil Eye (Jashi). Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura aka Okarun will have to face this new threat, all while Okarun comes to grips with Momo’s childhood friend and former crush, Jiji, back in the picture again. The group must solve the mystery surrounding Jiji’s family and the hot springs town home.
