Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Will Make its Way on the Wii U

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Will Make its Way on the Wii U 3

With Nintendo switching (no pun intended) all their attention to their newest console, it seems arbitrary that a news piece would surface about an upcoming Wii U game. However, as the Wii U had done for many years, it is not so much a new game but one that is finally being released for the forgotten console — Darksiders: Warmastered Edition.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, a remastered version of the original game, is set to launch on the Wii U on May 23, 2017. Now, for those who are unaware of this game’s existence, it was already released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC last year.

Over time, there were rumours that this game was cancelled for the Wii U. However, developer Vigil Games shoved away those rumours and confirmed the game’s release on the Nintendo console. Considering Nintendo already declared last year that production of the Wii U console is coming to a screeching halt, this is not too much to get excited for.

As a matter of fact, Reggie Fils-Aime (the President of Nintendo of America), revealed earlier this year that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would be the last first-party game for the Wii U. At the time, he admitted they were at the end of their shelf life with the console. However, notice the emphasis on first-party. Just because Nintendo will not be producing any more games for it, does not mean more games (third-party) will not be released for it.

Hence, the world will be getting Darksiders: Warmastered Edition for the dead in the water console. Darksiders 2 released on the Wii U, but Darksiders: Warmastered Edition adds improvements to the game’s quality, performance, and resolution to the original Darksiders experience. For people who still have their Wii U (and do not own a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or play on PC), this could be worth a pick-up.
