Dell Aims to Redefine Video Conferencing With UltraSharp Webcam

Video conferencing is expected to remain a prevalent component in how businesses operate, and Dell is offering a brand new 4K webcam to redefine the experience.

The new Dell UltraSharp Webcam (WB7022), on sale today, has been engineered from the ground up to provide superb quality video for professionals—from executives to Twitch streamers and anyone else who’s found themselves in front of a webcam a lot more in the past year. This revolution starts with a sleek, cylindrical, all-aluminum body, designed to minimize front-of-screen distractions.

Dell benchmarked the image quality of DSLR cameras and aimed to bring that same professional photographer quality to the UltraSharp Webcam. The result is best-in-class 4K video powered by a large Sony STARVIS CMOS sensor and multi-element lens. Digital Overlap HDR capability preserves true-to-life colours and balances exposure, while 3D/2D video noise reduction automatically cuts down the grain from your images. The field of view can be set at 65°, 78°, or 90°, and combined with 5x digital zoom, to get the right perspective.

Behind all of this tech is a suite of smart features. AI-powered auto-framing ensures you not only stay in focus, but stay centred in the shot as well. Windows Hello is included, enabling quick, secure log-ins with facial recognition. If you have a select Dell PC, the UltraSharp Webcam is compatible with the company’s ExpressSign-in feature, and its proximity sensors can detect when you leave your system and automatically log you out.

A magnetic privacy cover can protect the lens or your privacy when not in use. When it’s time to turn the webcam back on, this cover also securely snaps onto the back for storage. Rounding out the physical package is a slim monitor mount to accent the camera’s cylindrical build, and a tripod mount for even more versatility.

Given the mass adoption of video conferencing last year, which saw 62 million users download apps like Zoom in the first week of global lockdowns alone, Dell’s UltraSharp Webcam sounds like the perfect solution for those who will still be working remotely as the pandemic wanes. Listed for $199 USD, the WB7022 is available worldwide today.
