Capcom officially announced the long-awaited Devil May Cry 5 with a hectic trailer during Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference.
After several rumours, including a domain registered by Capcom prior to E3 2018, Capcom has finally revealed Devil May Cry 5. Ten years after the last numbered entry into the series, Hidekai Itsuno will be returning as the lead on Devil May Cry 5, promising that the title will live up to the legacy of the world-renowned franchise. Story-wise, Devil May Cry 5 picks up several years after the events of Devil May Cry 4, with the world once again under the threat of demons thanks to a mysterious demon tree that has taken root in the city of Red Grave.
Judging from the trailer, Devil May Cry 5 will once again let players step into the demon-hunting shoes of Nero, the protagonist of the last game, in addition to the series’ staple, Dante.
Capcom will be utilizing the RE Engine for Devil May Cry 5, the same engine used to bring Resident Evil 7 to life with photo-realistic visuals. The use of the RE Engine will ensure the highest standard of visual fidelity of any Devil May Cry title yet. During his time up on stage at the Microsoft show, series director Hidekai Itsuno enticed fans with the tidbit that Devil May Cry 5 will be the most ambitious title in the series’ history and that the long wait will be worth it.
Devil May Cry 5 will be available on the Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 in Spring 2019.
