A rating for a new version of Devil May Cry 5 has appeared on the rating board in Taiwan, specifically called the “Devil Hunter Edition,” and for Nintendo Switch 2.
NintendoEverything originally spotted the rating, but there’s no further information on this version other than its existence. We currently have no idea whether it will feature any additional content or if it’s just a straight port.
Different versions like this occasionally leak through ratings boards. At the same time, a Switch 2 port of Devil May Cry 5 seems like something incredibly likely, considering Capcom has become one of the strongest supporters of Nintendo’s system. Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess was one of the Switch 2’s launch titles, and Capcom has since put out Resident Evil Requiem and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, with Pragmata also set to hit Switch 2 in April. So it’s little surprise Capcom would seek to bring even more of its titles to the platform.
This also wouldn’t be the first port Devil May Cry 5 has seen, as the “Special Edition” was released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2020, one year after the game’s original release. This expanded version of the game featured improved visuals, gameplay tweaks, two additional game modes, and added Vergil as an entirely new playable character. Presumably, this Devil Hunter Edition would include all of that.
Devil May Cry 5 is currently the last title released in the franchise, although there’s been plenty of speculation on whether a sixth game is in the works. In our review, we gave DMC 5 a 6/10, saying,
“God of War, Bayonetta 2, and Nier: Automata all stand out as stellar, modern examples of what the action genre is capable of, where Devil May Cry 5 feels like a relic of a time when it was nearly uncontested in that space. There’s clearly a passion for this series instilled in DMC5, but it feels like all it amounts to is reminiscing about its past than paving the way for a brighter future.”
Devil May Cry 5 is currently available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
