Disney Dreamlight Valley Leaves Early Access In December, No Longer Free-to-Play

Paid Expansion Is Also On The Way

Disney Dreamlight Valley Leaves Early Access In December, No Longer Free-to-Play

After exactly one year in early access, Disney Dreamlight Valley will be released as a full title on December 5, 2023. However, this also means the title won’t be free-to-play anymore, instead retailing for $39.99.

Anyone who has purchased a Founder’s Pack will retain access to the game once it’s fully launched, but the change means that if you haven’t purchased a pack, you’ll need to purchase Disney Dreamlight Valley proper in order to keep playing. Luckily, though, existing players will get to retain their Moonstones and save game.

In an update on the Disney Dreamlight Valley website, the team explains the decision by saying, “This choice ensures that Disney Dreamlight Valley will be able to continue delivering on a premium game experience for all players. It’s important to us that we maintain our promise to keep delivering free content updates that add new characters, realms, clothing, furniture, and more surprises to your Valley.”

According to the site, any purchases involving Moonstones will remain “optional, fair, and match the level of quality players have come to expect.” At the same time, players will still be able to collect Moonstones via Dream Snaps and chests in-game, giving an option to spend time collecting versus purchasing.

Disney Dreamlight Valley will be available in three different editions: Standard, Cozy Edition, and Gold Edition.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Editions Include:

Standard

  • Digital Copy for $39.99
  • 8,000 Moonstones

Cozy

  • Physical Copy for $49.99
  • 14,500 Moonstones
  • Sticker Sheet and Poster
  • Bonus Digital Items: Cottage House Skin, 5 Racoon companion skins, and Cheshire Cat Sweater

Gold

  • Digital Copy for $69.99
  • 15,000 Moonstones
  • Bonus Digital Items: Flowery Capybara animal companion, Flowery Summer Cottage house style, Artists Overalls costume, and Avatar Costume

A new paid expansion called “A Rift In Time” is also coming to the game, adding new biomes, gameplay features, characters, and more for $29.99. On November 1, the game’s official YouTube and Twitch channels will host a livestream diving into the expansion.
