The Sanderson Sisters are making a comeback in 2022 with Disney showing an official look at the long-awaited sequel to Hocus Pocus, Hocus Pocus 2 in a one-minute teaser trailer for the Disney+ original movie.
After the conclusion of the original film, it has been almost three decades since Max (Omri Katz) lit the Black Flame Candle all the way back in 1993 resulting in the resurrection of the 17th century-witches. The trio will be once again played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy who make their return in the sequel and are all once again ready to suck out the souls of the children of Salem.
“Lock up your children… yes, Salem, we’re back!” Midler’s character Winifred shouts in the teaser trailer.
“It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve,” Disney described the film in a press release.
Alongside the return of the trio of witches in the 21st century this time around, the Disney+ movie will also star Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl), Lilia Buckingham (Dirt), Belisa Escobedo (American Horror Stories), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Tony Hale (Veep), Sam Richardson (The Tomorrow War and Good Boys), Juju Brener (Vanquish), Froy Gutierrez (Teen Wolf), Taylor Paige Henderson and Nina Kitchen.
Hocus Pocus 2 was directed by The Proposal and Dumplin’ director, Anne Fletcher and was written by Happy Together and Workaholics writer, Jen D’Angelo. It was confirmed back in January that filming of the Disney+ movie had finished wrapping up by Hocus Pocus 2 producer, Adam Shankman in an Instagram post stating that the film is “coming to you #halloween #2022 on @disneyplus.”
Hocus Pocus 2 will stream on Disney+ on September 30th.
