It may feel like an eternity since DOOM Eternal came out, but now one of 2020’s biggest games is already headed to Xbox Game Pass.
The latest entry in the classic first-person shooter franchise will be added to Microsoft’s subscription service October 1, just one week from today. Game Pass For PC holders will have to wait to raze Hell, but not long – DOOM Eternal should be added before the end of the year.
DOOM Eternal launched strong on March 20, 2020 and currently has a 88 rating on MetaCritic. Though overshadowed by pandemic-related store closures and the colossal success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the shooter still managed to sell three million digital copies alone before the end of the month. By contrast, the previous game in the series, DOOM 2016, didn’t break one million sales in its first month.
The Game Pass addition comes shortly before the release of Eternal‘s first downloadable content pack. The Ancient Gods – Part One drops on October 20, 2020, and will task players with rebalancing Heaven and Hell after the events of the campaign. Part Two is still expected to arrive within the game’s first year.
DOOM Eternal is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Stadia. Read CGM’s review here.
