Epic Games Releases New Details on Major Upcoming Fortnite Update 1

Epic Games has released some new information on the innerworkings of Fortnite and its Save the World mode.

Epic Games put up a new post on their website today, discussing the current state of Fortnite’s co-op story mode. In this post, Epic Games touches on a variety of topics from featured modes, enemy types and heroes to explaining their way of tackling potential issues such as Player Reporting.

The development team announced that the Canny Valley campaign will be arriving alongside an entirely new biome will be releasing in the near future. These new locations will continue the evolving story of Fortnite, introducing a number of new places for players to explore. The first act of the Canny Valley campaign will be released shortly after version 5.0 of Fortnite launches.

Epic Games also revealed that they will be re-introducing Challenge the Horde mode. This mode allows players to drop into a map with a pre-built base, battling against waves of enemies while increasing their defences and creating weapons in-between waves.  Challenge the Horde mode is returning with reworked difficulty progression and reworked combat, making each wave shorter and taking place on smaller maps. The mode will also now include mini-bosses which will spawn in during the higher difficulty levels. Epic Games promises that players will now receive better rewards during the event, consisting of gold, event tickets and perk materials. The improved Challenge the Horde mode will be the focus of Fortnite’s version 5.0 event.

There was also a brief mention of Fortnite’s upcoming first birthday. Since it’s early access release in July of last year, the sandbox survival game has gone on to become a universally acclaimed success. Epic Games didn’t state what will be happening as a celebration of the game’s one-year anniversary but did confirm that more details will be coming soon.
