The Next Grand Strategy Game, Europa Universalis V Has Been Announced

Paradox Interactive and Studio Tinto have revealed their next grand strategy game, Europa Universalis V.

After teasing its latest project as “Project Caesar” in many Tinto Talks blogs, Paradox Interactive and Studio Tinto have pulled back the curtain on their next title, Europa Universalis V. This is the next installment in the long-running grand strategy franchise, and the first Europa Universalis since the fourth entry released in 2013.

Europa Universalis V was designed over the past five years by Paradox Tinto and aims to build upon its predecessors that have laid 25 years of foundation and grand strategy tradition. The design team incorporated fan feedback and community notes from over a year of public discussion, giving the dedicated Paradox audience a voice in the creation of the next Europa Universalis. Paradox has also released an announcement trailer, and it can be seen below.

Europa Universalis V Key Features

  • A New and Larger World Map: Europa Universalis V uses a more accurate map to better reflect the size of the world’s continents, and fans can choose from hundreds of different societies and start an empire anywhere on earth. An extra detailed map lets Europa Universalis V have a greater number of nations and more varied topographical features.
  • A Longer Time Scale: Europa Universalis V’s campaign occurs in 1337, the opening year of the Hundred Years’ War. This great struggle over the French crown marked the peak of the late Medieval era. Players can lead a nation through the Renaissance, the Enlightenment and other historical ages while adapting to global advancements.
  • Population-Based System: Departing from the province-focused system of previous Europa Universalis titles, Europa Universals V represents the population of each province in detail. As a leader, fans will need to manage cultural and religious tensions in the realm, deal with estates and meet the demands of the population.
  • Ages of Historical Events: The pages of history unfold in Europa Universalis V, thousands of historical events in global history can happen.
  • Detailed Production and Trade System: Build farms, production fields, crafting workshops and factories to satisfy the realm’s economic and military needs, if a nation can’t build it or doesn’t have the necessary materials, trade between neighbouring nations may be necessary. Nations can use roads, ports and fleets to expand the trading region.
  • Design a Nation to Suit Your Situation: Nations can be tailored to the player’s preferences in Europa Universalis V. Adopt policies and laws to adapt to your immediate situation as your nation discovers new technologies and ideas. Move towards greater centralization of power or a looser power-sharing arrangement with neighbours. Build an army based on an abundance of manpower or a smaller force consisting of more elite professionals. Choice plays a key factor in Europa Universalis V.
  • Deep Military and Diplomatic Systems: Dominate the world through either sword or diplomacy. Rally mercenaries, levies or professional soldiers to your flag as you cut a blood path through history. But, players should remember, actions will have consequences.
