In a strange occurrence, Doctor Who is finally making their grand entrance into EVE Online, in a mash-up of CCP Games & BBC Studios.
The free-to-play space epic, EVE Online is finally going from outer space to multi-dimensional in a Doctor Who mash-up for the ages, after their successful foundation update happened last year.
Since its release in 2003, the interstellar title has been slowly trickling new content into their massive space MMORPG for almost two decades, and somehow this crossover event makes perfect sense. In a team-up that sees forces combine to fight off scores of Daleks, this event is not to be missed by either Whovians or the pilots of New Eden.
EVE Online’s Creative Director, Bergur Finnbogason said “2022 will be off to an (inter)stellar start with EVE Online x Doctor Who,” adding “We are always pushing the boundaries of what is possible in EVE Online. Collaborating with BBC Studios gives us the opportunity to pay homage to an iconic series that has inspired us at CCP. We hope you’ll join us in New Eden on January 13 to see what happens when galaxies collide!” regarding the exciting news.
Senior Producer at BBC Studios, Kevin Jorge said “EVE Online x Doctor Who not only brings two iconic universes together but also the passionate Whovians with the just-as-passionate pilots of New Eden,” including “By bringing the fanbases together, the already massive battles of EVE Online are sure to become even more explosive. Only time will tell if New Eden’s fiercest pilots have what it takes to challenge the might of the Daleks.”
With the crossover will happen on EVEO’s home turf, CCP Games has a lot to gain from this legendary series inclusion event. Players will be able to access Doctor Who-themed items, a unique login campaign, and a whole new Gallifrey-themed space that will also let players claim not only some serious loot rewards but also let players get their hands on Doctor Who Great Time War artifacts.
Considering this is CCP Games’ first major EVE Online crossover, it is only right that such a renowned series would get the nod into New Eden space.
