Today, developer InSpades announced its debut title, Everlast: Undying Tale, an RPG MMO that aims to “modernize and bring classic MMO systems into the present gaming landscape”.
Everlast: Undying Tale introduces us to the Kingdom of South Umbardom, which looks like a peaceful area where players can frolick with friends, gather materials, forge armour and more…until you see what haunts beneath the surface. The teaser trailer for Everlast: Undying Tale can be seen below.
On first glance, I would say Everlast: Undying Tale looks an awful lot like Singularity 6’s Palia, complete with the peppy music, or even a little bit of World of Warcraft, but that is what InSpades was hoping to accomplish. In the press release, the mission statement is clear: the team wanted to pay homage to the MMOs that came before it, and bring a bit of that old school feel to Everlast: Undying Tale.
In the game, players can choose to play multiplayer with friends, solo, or even dive into public servers. Here they will focus on crafting, questing and balancing “the ever-growing strength of an eldritch curse that threatens to consume” them. The release discusses higher curse levels unlocking powerful abilities that come with a catch. It even eludes to making the “realm your own.” Needless to say, there is plenty of mystery surrounding the game’s story.
Of course, an RPG or MMO (or MMORPG) is not complete without crafting, and some of the skills in Everlast: Undying Tale include fishing, blacksmithing and tailoring. Players will even have access to their own estate that they are able to restore. Here are some more features direct from the game’s Steam page:
