The high-flying space shooter action of Everspace 2 is about to get a big upgrade, as developer Rockfish Games has announced the Wrath of the Ancients expansion is set to release on May 12, 2025, for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
There’s also a new trailer, which you can see below.
Costing $29.99, Wrath of the Ancients adds a new post-game to Everspace 2, as well as side quest storylines. There are four new explorable star systems added onto the already sizable game, with each one having new enemies, secrets, and puzzles to uncover. On top of that, a new spaceship with a distinct playstyle will be added to the game.
“Space pilots only have a short while longer to wait until they can experience this exciting chapter of the EVERSPACE saga. This massive expansion packages together much of what our community has been asking for: new places to explore, more enemies to fight, an additional spacecraft to master, and gear to discover,” says Rockfish Games CEO and co-found Michael Schade in a press release.
Schade also praised the strength of the German game industry, specifically how the German government has invested in both small and mid-size studios to help fund creative projects, saying it was “supported by grants from the German government to create a level playing field to countries that have had tax break programs for decades.”
If you’ve never played Everspace 2, it’s a single-player space combat game that’s heavy on RPG elements. You follow the story of Adam, a clone pilot discovering his place in the universe. Along that path, you’ll get to explore the various areas around Cluster 34 and fend off pirates and a host of enemies while navigating the politics of those living in space. You can see more about the Wrath of the Ancients expansion, on its Steam page.
Everspace 2: Wrath of the Ancients launches on May 12 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and GOG.
