For the upcoming Summer season 21 update, Fallout 76: Gone Fission brings the cozy pastime to the Wasteland with no extra charge to players.
Fallout 76 has been going for 20 seasons strong now, and since 2018, there have been many seasonal updates added to the base game providing new activities for Wastelanders free of charge. Last season, Glow of the Ghoul brought the ability to become Ghoulified to Appalachia, allowing fans to channel The Ghoul protagonist of the Amazon Prime TV Series, Fallout in the MMO. The season 21 update Gone Fission allows Wastelanders to embrace the cozier side of post-apocalyptic warfare, fishing. A new trailer has been released with the update, and it can be seen below.
Appalachia has opened its waters to Wastelanders everywhere, so starting June 3 (which doubles as the start of Season 21) aspiring anglers can cast lines all over Appalachia to catch big game. The Gone Fission seasonal questline gifts players their first fishing rod, and an abundance of new in-game content and rewards to dig through. Anywhere players can jump in the water, fishing is permitted, and Wastelanders will need to remain vigilant monthly to secure the monthly prized Axolotls (there is one unique to each month). There will also be a bigger game to hook called ‘Local Legends,’ giving players a new goal of catching all of the trophy fish in the Wasteland.

Aside from hooking big game Fallout 76 has also deployed a new crafting system on anglers. Fish can be eaten to restore Health and Hunger, or converted into Fish Bits and cooked into recipes for additional effects. A new NPC called Linda Lee (who’s also a giant hermit crab inhabiting Fisherman’s Rest) will give the player a legendary item if she is given a snack daily, so sharing is caring in Gone Fission. Wastelanders can even purchase a new houseboat for a floating living situation in Appalachia.
Fallout 76: Gone Fission will be available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5 and 4 on June 3, and more details can be found on the official site.
