Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ Debut Trailer Reveals Marvel's First Family

After being announced way back in 2020, Marvel has finally revealed the first trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps bringing Marvel’s first family to the MCU.

After last year, the main casting choices for the Fantastic Four were revealed on Valentine’s Day, and this year, Marvel took things a step further in the same month. Today, Marvel revealed the debut trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps, giving fans the first look at Marvel’s first family in the MCU. The trailer can be seen below.

Fantastic Four: First Steps sees Director Matt Shakman return to the MCU after helming Wandavision and features the iconic Marvel quartet of heroes taking things back to the Silver Age. First Steps stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the titular heroes, and the film explores how the superheroes obtained their powers.

The film follows the tetrad as they shift from being test pilots to the iconic hero foursome that has now become iconic in Marvel Comics. An experimental space voyage sees the heroes exposed to cosmic radiation, granting them superpowers, and in typical Marvel fashion, sees them test their strength against the eater of worlds, Galactus (played by Ralph Ineson).

The Silver Surfer, commonly portrayed as Galactus’ harbinger, will be played this time around by Julia Garner. Instead of the Silver Surfer donning the common identity of Norrin Radd, First Steps brings the character Shalla-bal on board as the Silver Surfer. Introduced as Norrid Radd’s love interest in Silver Surfer #1, it will be interesting to see if Shalla-bal, who is portrayed as Empress of Zenn-La in comics, will return to the role of Empress on the MCU’s Silver Screen.

Fantastic Four: First Steps will land in theatres as the second big MCU film of the year on July 25, 2025.
