According to a new report from Variety, a WandaVision spinoff starting Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness is currently in development at Marvel Studios and Disney.
Agatha Harkness was one of the standout elements of the MCU’s first television series, and Hahn would reprise her role even though story details are completely under wraps. That means it’s unclear exactly when the show would take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, and whether it would be before or after WandaVision.
WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer is planned to serve as writer and executive producer on the new project. Schaeffer was also the writer behind Black Widow, as well as the 2019 film The Hustle, starring Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson. Back in May Schaeffer signed a deal with Marvel Studios and 20th Television, which stated she would develop new projects for both. With that in mind, it makes sense that a new WandaVision spinoff might move forward. Both Disney and Kathryn Hanh declined to comment to Variety about the news.
WandaVision originally started airing in January 2021, and the show eventually went on to wrack up 23 different Emmy nominations and won three of those, including Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, Outstanding Productions Design for a Narrative Program, and Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes.

WandaVision first introduced Hahn as Agnes, one of the intrusive neighbors that Wanda and Vision have to deal with in the community of Westview. Later on, however, Agnes is revealed to actually be the powerful witch Agatha Harkness. In the comics, Agatha has been alive for over 500 years and becomes a key figure in the Salem Witch Trials. Without any major spoilers, Agatha does survive the finale of WandaVision, although what her future holds is one of the lingering questions of the show.
All nine episodes of WandaVision are streaming exclusively on Disney Plus.
