Wizards of the Coast has announced a team-up with two Fortnite creators today, to bring a special series of fan-made islands inspired by Dungeons & Dragons to the islands.
Wizards of the Coast has revealed a collaboration with Chartis and Teravision Games, two of the leading community creators of Fortnite Islands (which include Zombie Escape Tag and Havoc Hotel), and these creators have been signed on to launch a special series of fan-made islands inspired by DUNGEONS & DRAGONS.
This doesn’t mean D&D stuff is coming to the item shop, or new D&D-inspired POIs will be added to Battle Island (like The Simpsons-inspired Springfield), it means custom Fortnite Islands are built and playable by long-time D&D fans at both Chartis and Teravision, using Epic’s UEFN toolset. These new islands are designed as part of a new initiative to explore how D&D can connect with a diverse range of Fortnite players. The five islands include a PvP arena, a social hub, a platformer, a co-op boss fight, and a large co-op roguelike. WoTC and Hasbro are looking to bring D&D to more audiences than ever, and introducing Fortnite players to the spirit of D&D homebrew is the beginning.

Franchise Strategy Director for DUNGEONS & DRAGONS at Wizards of the Coast, Nick Strann, says, “We’re bringing the spirit of D&D homebrew to Fortnite – supporting creators, experimenting in new mediums, and learning how we can introduce D&D to new players,” adding, “D&D already means so much to all those who have joined us at the table, and we hope that we can make it just as meaningful for millions of Fortnite fans. We very much look forward to hearing player feedback on these creator-made islands and using that feedback to shape future adventures wherever people love D&D.”
