Fortnite is known for incessantly teasing its fanbase with upcoming crossovers, and now that fans have been speculating about Pirates of the Caribbean, they’ve posted another teaser.
Following Magneto’s (and Weapon-X’s) incursion on Battle Island, Fortnite looks ahead into the warm Summer months and its next collaboration. One thing is certain regarding Epic Games: they always aggressively tease their upcoming collaborations with big licenses. Now that fan speculation has hit an all-time high, and the next tease is for a Pirates of the Caribbean crossover. Below is the latest post from the official X (formerly Twitter) account, featuring a treasure map.
The quote “The darkest of sails for these seas” could refer directly to the pitch-black “dark as a moonless night” sails of Captain Jack Sparrow’s iconic ship, The Black Pearl. Fortunately for leaks, this isn’t a ship afloat in the ocean, and with Fortnite, leaks are normally in abundance and are usually true. Known Fortnite leaker (and partnered directly with Epic Games, as their bio says), Shiina has blown the doors off the ‘secret’ with a post that yells from the masthead, “The Pirates of the Caribbean event starts in 7 DAYS,” confirming the post above is a Pirates of the Caribbean related post.
It’s been shown before that Jack Sparrow is sailing to Battle Royale following Epic Games’ early launch of the Pirates of the Caribbean event pass, which has been immortalized over on Reddit (notably, the event pass was also ‘leaked’ by Shiina). Fans looking for upcoming news regarding Battle Island could follow Shiina directly for the latest news regarding Epic Games.
UPDATE [Jul 19]: The Pirates of the Caribbean Crossover is Confirmed in New Short
All it was missing was an official confirmation, and the best confirmation is video confirmation, as a short cinematic trailer for the Pirates of the Caribbean-themed skins including Captain Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann, Captain Barbossa, and Davy Jones has arrived and can be seen below.
