Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley took to socials today to give fans a small update on Haunted Chocolatier, it will be bigger than Stardew.
Fans of anything Stardew Valley-related have been starved for news surrounding ConcernedApe’s new title, Haunted Chocolatier pretty much since its announcement back in October 2021. In the announcement, Eric Barone compared work on Haunted Chocolatier to be less constrained than how hes worked with Stardew Valley.

Barone said “So far, I’ve been having fun working on this game. There are so many possibilities. With Stardew Valley, I felt somewhat constrained, because I was working within an established tradition. I don’t regret that at all, but there’s always been a part of me that wanted to go “unleashed”. I believe this will be a good opportunity, but I haven’t even gotten to the good stuff yet. I’ve been mostly working on the “meat and potatoes” of the game so far. But what really brings a game to life is the spice, the sauce. And I haven’t really gotten to the sauce yet. That’s coming.” regarding the new title.

Today, Barone is back on the internet teasing something new about Haunted Chocolatier, and its a very small notion that if nothing else, proves the title is still being worked on. Since 2021, Barone has only posted three times total on the official Haunted Chocolatier website, with the last post titled “Intuitive Chocolate Making” going over how he views game design philosophy. Moreover, Barone also said “Keep in mind anything I ever say about Haunted Chocolatier is subject to change if I ever feel like it’s not as fun as it could be” in the latest update posted on May 10.
With all of that being said, Haunted Chocolatier‘s newest update comes from the ConcernedApe himself, in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He said “The world of haunted chocolatier is larger than stardew valley” and that’s all for the day. Fans can head to the official Haunted Chocolatier website for more information as it comes out, but fans should note it might take a while judging from previous Chocolatier updates.
