Honkai: Star Rail has another update coming its way for Version 4.2, named “So Laughed the Masses.”
Officially launching on April 22nd, 2026, the update will continue the story of the Phantasmoon games. As the competition has grown increasingly complex after it was announced that whoever wins the games will become the permanent Aeon of Elation. The leader of the Research Society of Happy Smiles, Fulwish, has also invited all of the Supplicants to a public debate located at the Fulwish TV headquarters in Seafeld City. The update promises that even more schemes and plots will unfold in Honkai: Star Rail while the Trailblazer strives to obtain as much Wishpower as possible.
Version 4.2 has also introduced some all-new limited-time five-star characters. These include Silver Wolf LV.999 and Evanescia, both of whom will officially become playable companions for players to enjoy. The Trailblazers themselves are also getting a brand new unlockable Path of Elation in this update. Aside from that, there are also a number of limited five-star characters, including The Herta, Castorice and Firefly, as well as Tribbie, Sunday and Feixiao. All of these characters will appear in first- and second-phase Warp events, and will provide players with more stable and powerful combat support for the new expedition.
As this update also coincides with the third anniversary of Honkai: Star Rail, the developers at HoYoverse have meticulously prepared a series of events and special rewards for players. These rewards themselves include 20 free pulls, Stellar Jade giveaways, and a free character redemption. Plus, if you participate in the “Aha’s Chosen: Spreading Elation Everywhere” event and leave a message, then you will have the chance to win a themed Silver Wolf LV.999 car and a couple of other surprise gifts.
As one last celebration of the third year of Honkai: Star Rail, there will be an offline event hosted in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, along with others in Seoul and Tokyo. The event will be open from April 18th to the 26th, spanning two plazas and being completely open to the public.
