Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.4 Launches in Early July, And Brings a Fate/stay nigh Crossover

HoYoverse has announced that Honkai: Star Rail’s Version 3.4 update will launch on July 2, 2025, for all platforms.

Titled For the Sun Is Set to Die, this update introduces a host of new story moments, playable characters, events and quality-of-life additions—on top of the long-awaited Fate/stay night crossover. Some of the simpler additions include the long-requested option to skip dialogue during story cutscenes and the return of the Origami Bird minigame. This update continues the story of the Chrysos Heirs with Phainon, a major new character from the Aedes Elysiae, who joins the Trailblazer following the events in Amphoreus.

In combat, Phainon can accumulate “Coreflames,” which he can use to unleash his Ultimate and transform into a “Territory” mode. He also increases the party’s Technique Point cap, and can even instantly defeat normal enemies within range without triggering combat. Phainon’s powers come from the elements of Origination, Calamity and the Foundation Titans.

On top of Phainon, a handful of limited 5-star characters will return for banners across the update. Here’s what they are.

  • First Half: Sparkle, Sunday, Tribbie
  • Second Half: Blade, Firefly, Jingliu

Of course, the other major addition here is the Fate/stay night crossover that adds the Penacony story “Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail War. This crossover will launch slightly after the 3.4 update, on July 11, 2025. In it, you’ll see characters like Aventurine and Mr. Boothill compete in a battle that has them summon Heroic Spirits from Fate/stay night. Those include the likes of Saber, Archer, and Lancer.

Saber and Archer will debut as playable characters. Saber is a Wind-type 5-star character following the Path of Destruction. Her Core Resonance allows her to earn extra turns.

Meanwhile, Archer is a Quantum-type character on the Path of the Hunt. He’s best in single-target combat, and can repeatedly use his skill in the same turn when in Circuit Connection Mode. Archer will be given to all players for free by logging in from July 11, 2025 until the end of Version 3.6.

Honkai: Star Rail is available on PS5, PC, iOS, and Android.
