The next title in the Hunt series of extraction shooters, Hunt: Showdown 1896, has been officially announced for consoles and PC.

Crytek finally unveiled the next chapter of Hunt: Showdown today. In this chapter, players can experience a whole new experience as the timeline leaps forward chronologically and heads west of the Bayou backwaters to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Crytek has released a trailer commemorating the announcement, which can be seen just below.

The trailer surprisingly gifts fans many details about the upcoming title, including an inside look at the first revealed map for Hunt: Showdown 1896. In Mammon’s Gulch, there are up to 16 new compounds to visit, spread across the entirety of the new Colorado biome. Like other Hunt titles, players will have to avoid new threats and tactically advance in hopes of a successful extraction. Crytek has also revealed Hunt: Showdown 1896 will be running on the new CRYENGINE 5.11 with highly anticipated improvements (including much better visuals) across the gameplay experience.

Console players will also see native 4K and 60 FPS support on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, with 60 FPS and 2K visuals for Xbox Series S. Unfortunately, the new title will not be playable on the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One, fans will also notice the original Hunt: Showdown will also be no longer playable on by design. However, players who have purchased the original title will get a free upgrade to the new console without paying an additional cent.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 is scheduled to launch on August 15. Crytek has said with the release of the new title and the sunsetting of the previous, fans can rest assured their previous progress will also transfer over seamlessly.
