Nintendo surprised everyone yesterday when the company announced that it would be having a Nintendo Direct and an Indie World showcase all in one day, and below are the Indie World announcements.
Fans may still be reeling from the most recent Nintendo Direct, which landed right after Summer Games Fest 2024. That showcase gave fans an exciting first look at some of Nintendo’s upcoming first-party offerings, including the new Super Mario Party Jamboree, Mario & Luigi: Brothership and, of course, the first gameplay reveal of Metroid Prime 4.
Today is a different showcase where Nintendo is pulling back the curtain on some of their independently developed titles from an Indie World showcase, plus an entire segment dedicated to Nintendo partners. For fans who like trailers, this is everything announced at the Nintendo Direct Indie World showcase from August 2024!
Nintendo Direct: Indie World Announcements
Balatro: Friends of Jimbo
The first announcement for Nintendo Direct Indie World is a collaboration between the hit indie card deck builder, Balatro, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Vampire Survivors, Dave the Diver, and Among Us in the Friends of Jimbo collection. This update will be released later today.
Neva
A new Metroidvania title with a watercolour art style called Neva is launching on October 15.
Moth Kubit
The final process is looming, and it’s up to you as an insect office worker to protect the office against this process in the newly announced RPG, Moth Kubit. It arrives at a TBD date, Spring 2025.
Coffee Talk Tokyo
Retaining the cozy elements of Coffee Talk while adding “something new” is the latest title in the series, Coffee Talk Tokyo. The gameplay appears remarkably close to the first two titles, so series fans will be happy when it launches at a TBD date in 2025.
Morsels
As a mouse, you must defeat evil cats in this new card-building roguelike called Morsels, published by Annapurna Interactive. Like other roguelikes, players will find upgrades, shops and powerups on each run, when Morsels launches in February 2025.
Date Everything!
With over 100 datable characters, fans can date all of their inanimate objects, drawing inspiration from a previous release, Boyfriend Dungeon. You don’t only have to date your furniture; you can even make friends with them when the title launches in October 2024.
Peglin
The team of seven at Red Nexus Games have unleashed a new title called Peglin. This roguelike uses a peg board to rack up scores and move forward through levels. It launches today!
Wobbly Life
A new title from Rubber Band Games sees a life simulator with puzzles to solve and jobs to obtain. This title includes local split-screen co-op and launches in December 2024.
Pico Park 2
This sequel to Pico Park increases the player count up to eight players at once. Players will have to work together to solve puzzles when Pico Park 2 launches later today!
Pizza Tower
For the Nintendo Direct Indie World final announcement, Indie World announced a fast-paced platformer featuring a Pizza Maker named Peppino and lightning-quick platforming ensued. The new title called Pizza Tower is launching on Nintendo Switch later today!
Nintendo Direct Indie World DLC Additions
Sea of Stars – Throes of the Watchmaker
Sea of Stars – Throes of the Watchmaker adds a new playable character and classes, in a new quest. The DLC will launch for free Spring 2025.
Power Wash Simulator – Shrek Special Pack
Power Wash Simulator – Shrek Special Pack includes five fairytale maps from the hit Dreamworks film series and will be added to the title in Fall 2024.
