The studio behind indie hits Limbo and Inside, Playdead, is allegedly trying to ‘erase’ studio Co-Founder Dino Patti from the studio’s history after a messy falling out with studio Art Director Arnt Jensen.
Starting back in March 2025, the former Co-Founder of Playdead (known for developing Limbo and Inside), Dino Patti, has been accusing the studio of threatening legal action against him due to a messy falling out with the studio’s Art Director (and Co-Founder), Arnt Jensen. Patti alleges their friendship started to deteriorate just before the time of Inside‘s release in 2017, and Patti eventually left Playdead in 2017 to found the new studio Jumpship. In a long-winded LinkedIn post, Dino Patti laid out his version of events, saying Arnt Jensen issued a “legal love letter” to Patti over a “publicly available” image of Limbo.

At the time, the legal action stated “By providing recipients with core insights to the process of developing Limbo, you are falsely giving the impression that you played a significant role, including a creative role, in the development of the game.” Patti closed the LinkedIn statement with “Arnt, please stop the bullying. I will not stop being who I am.” A few days later (on March 9, 2025), Playdead confirmed the legal action to GameDeveloper, saying “We have found it necessary to take this action to protect our trademarks and copyrights, which are essential to Playdead’s business and reputation,” in regards to the ongoing suit.

A new interview published today by Danish outlet Arkaden—and surfaced by VGC—reveals that Playdead plans to proceed with its lawsuit against Inside co-founder Dino Patti. Patti alleges that Playdead and studio director Arnt Jensen are using the legal action to “erase him” from the studio’s legacy. In the Arkaden interview, Patti claims he was originally credited prominently for his work on Limbo and Inside, but over time his name was moved from the first page of credits to the fourth. He describes the conflict with Jensen and Playdead as ongoing for years, and says he hopes the lawsuit will bring transparency to the situation.
As of this post, Playdead and Arnt Jensen have not made a public statement on the ongoing lawsuit.
