Ivy and Zasalamel Join Upcoming Soul Calibur VI 1

Fan favourite characters Ivy and Zasalamel will appear in the new Soulcalibur game, releasing later this year.

Soulcalibur VI is being developed by Project Soul and published by Bandai Namco. Project Soul is an internal Bandai Namco studio that has been working on the Soulcalibur games since the original, back in 1999. The newly announced characters,  Ivy and Zasamel are both classic members of the Soulcalibur universe and have appeared in Soulcalibur games in the past.

Isabella Valentine, or Ivy as she’s commonly referred to, was introduced in the original Soulcalibur in 1999. She was born into an aristocratic English family and had a prosperous childhood full of love until her father became obsessed with the Souls Blade. He ended up dying as a result and soon after Ivy’s mother also passed away. Now an orphan, Ivy left home and set off to destroy the object that brought so much pain and despair to her family. Zasalamel, on the other hand, was born into the Guardian of the Spirit Sword Clan and has always been an excellent swordsman. However, his fighting skills were matched by his arrogance, which led to his banishment from the clan and the breaking of both of his arms. Since then, Zasalamel has been trying to learn the secrets of reincarnation, which come with a heavy price. His reveal trailer is featured below.

The Soulcalibur series is set in a historical fantasy version of the 16th-17th century, where a mythical sword of evil called the ‘Soul Edge’ exists to cause imbalance and strife and can only be stopped by the equally mythical sword of good called the ‘Soul Calibur’.

While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, Bandai Namco has confirmed that the game will be coming at some point in 2018. The last Soulcalibur game, Soulcalibur V, was released back in 2012 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Soulcalibur VI will be releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
