John Wick, the smash action-hit franchise carried by Keanu Reeves will be making its way into roller coaster for at a Dubai theme park.
According to Gamespot, the John Wick Open Contract will be actually a makeover of the original Now You See Me roller coaster ride. It features guests seated beside the roller coaster track from left-to-right as it propels vertically over a loop. It will also take riders into the world of John Wick‘s assassins, most notably the continental hotel and other New York bullet-ridden set pieces inspired by the movies. The most interesting part of the attraction comes from a choice riders can make: Helping John through his “excommunicado” from John Wick Chapter 2 or take him out for a bounty.
The choice, made from the wait in line, will also give riders another path or experience. This changes the tone of John Wick Open Contract which turns John into a ride-a-long friend or a surprising enemy who will attack riders in the experience. Much of the ride will also be redesigned into the lobby of the film’s iconic hotel, complete with simulated gunfights happening around guests. It’s unknown whether or not Reeves himself will reprise his role for the attraction, much like other actors for their rides. But it’s likely he could be open to an appearance following his experience with Cyberpunk 2077, where he reportedly doubled his screen-time from enjoying his role as Johnny Silverhand too much.
“I think what’s going to be amazing for fans is to have the opportunity to walk through the lobby of the Continental and experience different key moments in the settings that took place in the films,” said Jenefer Brown, executive VP for Lionsgate. “This attraction in particular is really about setting the story by putting people in this very immersive environment, and then you really get the action as you get on the coaster. It’s 10 stories high, so there’s definitely a level of intensity that’s befitting of the John Wick franchise that guests will experience.”
John Wick Open Contract is one franchise of movies that are up for rides at Motiongate Dubai. Another about The Hunger Games is already available while others can see a stage show based on Step Up. The rides are currently limited as the parks are closed amid the worldwide COVID-19 restrictions, but John Wick Open Contract is under construction while visitors would get a more comfortable experience post-pandemic.coaster
