Polaris Quest, the subsidiary of Tencent, is being accused of copying Guerilla Games after announcing their latest game, Light of Motiram.
Following the announcement of Light of Motiram from Polaris Quest, a subsidiary of Tencent, players are accusing the game of copying Guerilla Games IP, Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. Being described as an open-world adventure set in a land where human civilization has ceased to exist, the world is inhabited by mechanical animals called the mechanicals, including a deer, bull, and a large gorilla.

So far from the trailers revealed, Light of Motiram does have some elements that stand out from Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West as it features co-op multiplayer and the ability to craft shelters. But outside the difference, the game is being accused on social media of taking a lot more than inspiration from Guerrilla games as it has a similar art style and aesthetic. Not only is Light of Motiram being accused of copying Guerrilla Games IP, but it is also being accused of taking elements from Palworld as the players can tame and train the Mechanicals.
From looking at the Light of Motiram announcement post from the Reddit subreddit, r/gaming, some users have left comments criticizing the games. The comments included are “They even stole the damn Font. That’s just crazy” from the user, Jazzlike-Curve146, and “Not even trying to hide it.” from Macho-Fantastico, while the rest are making jokes that it is Horizon 3.
On Twitter, the users are posting screenshots of Light of Motiram mentioning its resemblance to the Horizon series and calling it shameless, followed by users commenting this could open a lawsuit with Sony.
As of now, Sony and Polaris Quest have not commented on the situation. In the meantime, Light of Motiram is available to wishlist now on Steam as it will be free-to-play and will be released in 2025.
