Marvel's The Defenders Trailer Released

Netflix released an official trailer for Marvel’s upcoming Marvel’s The Defenders series.

This new trailer for Marvel’s The Defenders, shows the lead characters meeting each other along with a number of fight scenes involving them. Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and Finn Jones will return to reprise their roles as Matt Murdock (Daredevil), Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand (Iron Fist) respectively. Sigourney Weaver has been confirmed as the series villain along with Elodie Yung as Elektra, Daredevil’s nemesis. Also returning from Marvel’s previous Netflix series are Eka Darville, Simone Missick, Deborah Ann Woll and a variety of others. Having previously worked on Marvel’s Daredevil Netflix series, Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie return as executive producers for the new series. Jeph Loeb, executive producer of Marvel’s Iron Fist series will join on as an executive producer as well.

Marvel’s The Defenders takes place after the events of the Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Ironfist series, having all four of these heroes team up to defend New York from the forces of evil. Development of the series began back in 2013. It will consist of eight-episode and is scheduled to debut on Aug. 18, 2017. Marvel’s The Defenders is set to be Marvel’s last show ordered along with The Punisher.

Marvel’s first Netflix series, Daredevil, premiered in 2015 with its first season consisting of 13 episodes. The series garnered universal praise for its serious and dark tone while staying true to the source material, properly telling the hero’s origin story. Daredevil also helped to create the foundation of Marvel’s cinematic television universe, a smaller universe contained within the same world as Marvel’s movies. Each of Marvel’s series afterwards has connected after the first season of Daredevil, featuring cameos from major or minor characters or by having references alluding to the other series. Marvel’s The Defenders will mark the first time the four of these series cross over with each other.
