Mass Effect Legendary Edition and New Title Confirmed 2
After months of reports, BioWare has officially confirmed the existence of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a remastered compilation of the genre-defining trilogy.

The Legendary Edition will include all single-player and promotional DLC for all three games, remastered in 4K UltraHD. “Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form,” wrote BioWare VP Casey Hudson.

The package will arrive in Spring 2021, with more news coming early next year. Commander Shepard will touch down on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, “with forward compatibility and targeted enhancements” on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

“It’s been amazing to see the adventures of Commander Shepard take on new life,” Hudson wrote. “As game developers, we always hope that our games will transcend their original platforms. Having the opportunity to remaster the trilogy means that the fruits of a decade of our work will live on, and will be experienced better and clearer than ever before.”

However, BioWare had one ace up their sleeve for their N7 Day: Hudson broke the news that “the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe” is in development with “a veteran team” of developers. No further details were given on the new title and its relationship to the original trilogy or its spinoff, Mass Effect Andromeda, but it joins Dragon Age 4 on the horizon of anticipated projects from the Edmonton-based studio.
