Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is easily one of the most hotly anticipated remakes right now, but according to a prominent leaker, it might not be released until 2025.
In a post on Dealabs, well-known leaker billbil-kun suggested the remake could slip into 2025. The leaker claims a 2025 release window was a reference by a global distribution giant, and a placeholder date of December 31, 2025 has been set. They weren’t able to corroborate the information, however, so for now don’t take it with a grain of salt.
Regardless of that, though, bill-bil kun says an announcement regarding the game will be made sometime very soon, within the next ten days. That would likely put whatever this announcement is at Summer Game Fest, or one of the other events surrounding it.
On top of that, they say pre-order for the game will immediately open after the announcement, and there are two physical editions planned: the Standard edition for $69.99 and a Collector’s Edition for $199.99. These editions, of course, are only listed for the console versions.
Following a wealth of leaks and rumors, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was officially announced at the PlayStation Showcase in May 2024.
The game remakes the third entry in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, rebuilding the title in Unreal Engine 5. This means it’s the first game in the franchise, since the dissolution of Kojima Productions, to not use the Fox Engine. The last entry was Metal Gear Survive in 2018.
We’ve only seen a couple of very short trailers, so not a lot is known about the remake, but it seems to be trying to faithfully recreate the original with enhanced visuals and gameplay. Konami has confirmed that the remake will reuse the voice actors’ audio from the original release of Snake Eater.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
