Microsoft: Kinect titles will "triple" by the end of the year

Multiple Kinect titles will be announced at this year’s E3.

We haven’t really heard about any new Kinect game since the platform launched in November, so Microsoft’s motion control device still doesn’t have much to offer beyond dance games and virtual cats. However, Microsoft hopes to change that in the months ahead. Microsoft says that the number of Kinect titles will “triple” by the end of the year – there are currently 26, according to Wikipedia – and the estimate includes already-known games like Child of Eden and The Gunstringer, as well as several games that are yet to be announced.

“We’ve seen some of the media start to ask the question, ‘When are we going to see more Kinect games coming?'” said Microsoft product manager David Dennis. “As we sat there and looked at it we realized we’ve got a lot of games coming and we’re going to show a lot of them at E3.”

Microsoft also plans to reveal several new ‘core’ games during next month’s conference.

“We would certainly never leave that audience behind,” added Dennis. “It’s not about depriorizing one or the other. It’s about how we go big on any and all: Go big on Kinect games; go big on core games.”

“We certainly expect to have a big E3 and we’re saving a lot of our cards until then.”

Microsoft’s E3 press conference is scheduled for June 6th.
