Monster Hunter Wilds will receive its first patch on March 4, fixing a story bug and other issues.
The launch of live service games can always be a bit buggy at launch. Despite PC players reporting some technical issues, Monster Hunter Wilds has received an abundance of praise. Capcom announced there will be a patch coming out tomorrow, helping players stuck on a certain story progression issue. The patch will go live Tuesday, March 4th at 12am PT / 3am ET / 8am GMT.
Players were reporting a Monster Hunter Wilds story progression bug where an integral NPC character has not appeared where they should be. This makes it impossible for players to progress their story. “A patch addressing known progression blockers will deploy tomorrow morning,” Capcom said this morning. The stated it will go live at 12am PT / 3am ET / 8am GMT on March 4, “with fixes for issues with the Ingredient Center, Grill a Meal and story progression in Chapter 5-2 ‘A World Turned Upside Down’.”
The Capcom team was already aware of this same issue since last Friday, where there was an issue stopping some players from unlocking the Grill a Meal and Ingredient Center features. This was a problem with players who even met the progress criteria. This bug was found in all versions of the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Players stuck on this portion of Monster Hunter Wilds are encouraged to wait for the patch to go live tomorrow. And once the update is released, all online sessions will force players to download it to continue playing online. Many PC players have been plagued with technical issues, but this is always expected with different players having different PC specs. For now, Capcom acknowledged the issues and recommended that players try solutions such as updating GPU drivers and disabling any compatibility modes to try and alleviate issues.
Even with all the issues, Monster Hunter Wilds continues to be adored by fans. Its launch day saw over 1 million concurrent users on PC. Over the weekend, there was an all-time peak of almost 1.4 million concurrent players. This immediate patch releasing tomorrow will not be addressing all the issues, but Capcom already shared that the first major update is coming out in early April. It will be titled Title Update 1, which will introduce the new monster, Mizutsune, and other game features like a Gathering Hub for multiplayer.
For context on Mizutsune, the monster made its debut as one of the cover monsters for the 3DS-exclusive Monster Hunter Generations. It was not in Monster Hunter World, but it was in Monster Hunter Rise. Players can expect this monster to be tougher than the ones they will see in the base game of Monster Hunter Wilds, as it is an added monster. Most likely, it will be a monster featured later in the players’ progression.

Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto is being promoted to oversee all of Capcom’s development divisions. Executive Corporate Officer Yoichi Egawa will be resigning as of April 1, and stepping down from his role as Chief Product Officer. This allowed Tsujimoto to be promoted from deputy in charge of development divisions to Chief Product Officer. He will assume this role as of April 1st.
Tsujimoto has been with Capcom since 1996, and has worked on the Monster Hunter games throughout all of its success. He initially worked on the first Monster Hunter on PS2 and its PSP port Monster Hunter Freedom. Tsujimoto naturally progressed to work on Monster Hunter Tri, Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. From then on, he was either the senior producer or executive producer on every major Monster Hunter release since. His extraneous experience in the company and with the franchise adds confidence Monster Hunter Wilds will be in good hands.
