Director Todd Phillips has revealed brand new images of the upcoming sequel to 2019’s Joker, Joker: Folie à Deux, and they show Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in character as a treat for the Holidays.
Todd Phillips is known for his method of trickle-feeding impending audiences with teasers from his upcoming films, and Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to the award-winning 2019 film also starring Joaquin Phoenix with Todd Phillips as director, is receiving the same treatment. Phillips used his Instagram earlier today to reveal two exciting images from the upcoming highly anticipated sequel. These images can be seen below.
The first image features Phoenix in character, likely behind the door of an Arkham Hospital facility detainment room numbered #E258, where our ‘hero’ finished his journey at the end of the original film. The second image shows Phoenix dressed in the iconic cranberry-coloured suit made popular in the 2019 film, next to Lady Gaga in character as Harley Quinn (or maybe her alter ego, Dr. Harleen Quinzel).
Previous teaser images were provided by Todd Phillips back in March, showing the pair in character for Joker: Folie à Deux, and revealed the first look at Lady Gaga serving full Harley Quinn. After those images were revealed, fans were treated to the full cast listing from Todd Phillips. Aside from Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, the film features a star-studded listing. The sequel stars Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Harry Lawtey and Jacob Lofland, with Todd Phillips as Director, and Paul Dini, Bill Finger, and Bob Kane taking over scribe duties.
While fans still do not have a pinpointed release date of Joker: Folie à Deux, Phillips said, “Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a beautiful new year. Oct 2024 #Joker2.”
