Niantic and Capcom have announced Monster Hunter Now season 5, launching on March 6, 2025, debuting new monsters from previous installments, skills, and many more.
Fuelling the desire to hunt in preparation for Monster Hunter Wilds arrival, Niantic and Capcom have announced Monster Hunter Now season 5 debuting Glavenus and Arzuros, skills to enhance your hunting, and adjustments to previous skills and weapons types. But ahead of the season 5 release, Chatacabra will be debuting on Feb. 28, 2025, with the Monster Hunter Wilds collaboration running until March 31, 2025.

Right from the get-go, two monsters will be debuting in Monster Hunter Now. The first monster to arrive is Glavenus, first debuting in the Monster Hunter Generation, which can be unlocked to hunt after completing an Urgent Quest during a chapter from season 5, provided they are at a minimum Hunter Rank 5. This little beasty has a weakness to Water and Dragon. The next monster to arrive is Arzuros, first debuting in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, which can be unlocked in Monster Tracker after completing an Urgent Quest and are a minimum Hunter Rank 2. For anyone wanting to take on this monster, it is worth noting it has weaknesses to Fire, Poison, Paralysis and Sleep.
At the beginning of season 5, certain monsters from the fields and Monster Tracker from Season 4 will be temporarily unavailable to hunt. The affected monsters are:
- Radobaan (Monster Tracker)
- Zinogre
- Tzitzi-Ya-Ku (Monster Tracker)
- Odogaron (Monster Tracker)
- Basarios (Monster Tracker)
- Khezu (Monster Tracker)
- Mizutsune
- Magnamalo (Monster Tracker)
- Rajang
- Volvidon (Monster Tracker)
- Somnacanth (Monster Tracker)
- Tigrex
- Pink Rathian
- Black Diablos
- Azure Rathalos
- Coral Pukei-Pukei
- Nightshade Paolumu
The listed monsters will reappear after players have completed the monster unlock quest, available at the start of Monster Hunter Now season 5. The monster unlock quest is a new feature to arrive in the upcoming season, as you can unlock monsters from the past season and certain monsters that are tied to the Monster Tracker, although with some expectations.
As the players wrap up the Monster Hunter Now Season 4 pass, the Season 5 pass will be available at the launch of the new season, featuring many unlockable items. The Season 5 pass will be available for 2000 gems, and players can purchase the 2,470 Gems bundle for $20.99 CAD if they wish to buy the pass.
Shifting the focus to the new skills arriving in season 5, players can use the Shared Sword skill to increase their attack power during a group hunt and the Raw Power skill to decrease their weapon affinity but boost their attack power. With the new skills, there will be balance adjustment for Sword & Shield to make it easier to target monster breakable parts with the sword being enhanced and the Guard skill increasing the damage reduction when guarding based on the skill level.
Throughout season 5 of Monster Hunter Now, many new features will arrive on March 17, 2025, to celebrate the game’s 1.5-year Anniversary as it allows the players to trade their special materials from previous hunts and events for many rewards. Some of the rewards available are:
- Item Box Expansion – Additional storage space.
- Weapon Refining Parts – Used to overgrade weapons past Grade 5.
- Armour Refining Parts – Used to overgrade armours past Grade 5.
- Wyvern Gem Shard – A rare item to overgrade equipment to Grade 8 and above.
Outside of the features tied to the Monster Hunter Now anniversary, Niantic is adding many more improvements and features to the fifth season that players can look forward to. Two improvements we know so far are the ability to spot a monster you want to target much easier on the field and an additional 250 slots thanks to the Item Box Expansion, available as a Supply Item.

With Monster Hunter Wilds right around the corner, Monster Hunter Now x Monster Hunter Wilds will enter the second part of the collaboration event. From February 28th to March 31st, 2025, players can hunt for the Chatacabra in a desert habitat after completing a limited-time Urgent Quest. Completing the new quests during the event reward players with the following:
- Exclusive Seikret Rider layered outfit
- Monster materials including a Wyvern Gem Shard
- Weapon Refining Parts
- Armours Refining Parts
- Zenny
In addition to the rewards, players can claim a Supply Item to receive 12x Hope Weapon Forging Tickets, an Exclusive Hope layered outfit, and a 500x Item Box Expansion. If unaware, the Hope Weapon is the first weapon the player will get to wield in the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds, so this is a fun addition for players eagerly awaiting that game. To fuse it in Monster Hunter Now, players simply go onto the Weapon section from the Equipment menu and select the Forge option to craft the Hope Weapon using the Hope Weapon Forging Tickets.

That’s everything fans can expect from Monster Hunter Now season 5, which will launch on March 6, 2025. The game is available to download on iOS and Android. Niantic will share more information regarding the gameplay adjustments and features during the new season debut.
