No more hoaxes, Fallout 4 in development

The wind was certainly sucked out of our sails when Bethesda confirmed the Fallout 4 website was a hoax. We can still rejoice however, and how appropriate now that the holidays are just around the corner. Documents obtained by Kotaku confirm the existence of a game code-named Institute, and there is a very good chance everything within these documents – including scripts and character descriptions – is associated with Fallout 4.

Familiar lines like, “War. War never changes,” make an appearance in the script. Veering away from the voice work of actor Ron Perlman this time around, it seems like the iconic Fallout line will be delivered by your character who can be male or female. The beginning of the game will apparently be marked by your character’s emergence from a cryogenic sleeping chamber.

Other parts of the document mention a mission set in the Institute, which is described as a post-apocalyptic  version of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass. Fallout 3 refers to the Commonwealth, the remnants of Massachusetts, and it’s also mentioned in the documents.

Hoping for any mention of Three-Dog? No such luck unfortunately, but another DJ, who goes by the name of Travis Miles and an engineer called Sturges, who is described as a “cross between Buddy Holly and Vin Diesel,” are also mentioned in the documents.

Kotaku has pointed that some, perhaps even all – but let’s hope not – of these details could have been invented for the purpose of the casting calls. Not to mention, plenty of changes could take place throughout the development process. There’s been no word yet from Bethesda regarding any of these developments.

Here’s hoping we get to see Fallout 4 on an updated version of the Creation Engine, which powered Skyrim, and served as the successor to the Gamebryo Engine Bethesda used to power Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

Still a lot of speculation, but it’s nice knowing that Fallout 4  and its development is actually a part of our reality. Finally.
