OtterBox furthers the “Designed for Xbox” program by releasing the OtterBox Power Swap Controller Batteries.
Back in January, OtterBox launched their Designed for Xbox line featuring the Easy Grip Controller Shell, Gaming Carrying Case, Mobile Gaming Clip, as well as accessories for mobile gaming. For the first time, the company is diving into the world of gaming tech with rechargeable batteries specifically designed for your Xbox controllers.
The days of the all-to-common controller death are gone with this new product. No more scrambling to find your back-up controller, or being stuck tethered to your console, five feet from your TV, with your USB charger. The OtterBox Power Swap Controller Batteries feature quick-release, hot-swap technology which allow for a quick switch between batteries so you never have to deal with that cord again!
Each battery supplies up to ten hours of power, but that isn’t the biggest selling point! What makes this system special is a reserve cell storing about 30 seconds of battery life. That means when you pop out your dead battery, you’ll have time to pop in the new one without the need to re-sync or pause your game.
The OtterBox Power Swap Controller Batteries include two batteries, a charging dock and mounting cages for Xbox Wireless Controllers. They also feature an LED light displaying charging status and battery life, plus a low-battery alert that illuminates your hands at the 10-minute mark, to give you a heads up when you’re low on power. The battery even features a snooze button that will turn the light off until you’re at the “five minutes left” mark!
OtterBox is offering a limited lifetime warranty and the product goes on sale June 15 for $59.95 at otterbox.com, Microsoft, and Amazon, with the product coming soon to GameStop. Compatible with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S Controllers, this is an excellent edition to the Designed for Xbox line, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it!
