Owlcat Games has announced they will expand from developing games to publishing indie games, signing with Emotion Spark Studio and Another Angle Games.
Known for being behind critically acclaimed RPG Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Owlcat Games will begin publishing other studio’s indie games as they signed a deal with two talented developers after reviewing more than 50 projects. The two developers working under Owlcat Games will soon be Emotion Spark Studio, based in Serbia, and Another Angle Games, based in Poland.
Being from Serbia, Emotion Spark Studio is currently working on a narrative RPG called Rue Valley. The game follows a man trapped in a mysterious time loop during psychotherapy. It is up to the protagonist to rise from the depths and delve into the anomaly to uncover its mysterious origin.
The second studio to be signed with Owlcat Games is Another Angle, developing an isometric RPG set during the alternate history of feudal Japan called Shadow of the Road. The game tells an immersive story about a samurai, honour, and allegiance while being combined with a deep tactical turn-based combat system in a world that is filled with magical yokai and deadly steampunk technologies.
Alongside Owlcat Games signing with the development teams, they have also gained full control over the publishing label, META Publishing, which acted as a publishing partner to bring Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous to PC and console storefront in 2021 and following a strategy focusing on gameplay-first titles with co-op features. META Publishing has released many games, including Biped, Spirit of the Island, Train Valley, Train Valley 2, and many more, with some upcoming games to be announced at Gamescom, including Biped 2 and Nested Land.
