People Can Fly Joins Co-Development of Gears of War: E-Day With The Coalition

On Sunday, People Can Fly posted an official announcement on its website stating it will help co-develop Gears of War: E-Day with The Coalition.

Aside from the official reveal of The Coalition’s next title, Gears of War: E-Day, and the notion that it will be a prequel, not much has been learned about the next Gears of War entry. That changed late Sunday, when People Can Fly announced it would sign on as a co-developer of the next entry in Gears of War alongside The Coalition.

People Can Fly is no stranger to the Gears of War franchise, having led development for the spin-off Gears of War: Judgment and helped co-develop the original Gears of War through Gears of War 3.

People Can Fly’s CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski said, “Returning to collaborate on the next chapter of this legendary saga is both a privilege and an exciting opportunity to build upon the intense, visceral action and rich storytelling that fans have come to love. We are deeply grateful for our partners’ trust and support on this journey,” regarding the co-development announcement.

Studio head of The Coalition, Mike Crump, applauded the decision, saying, “Gears of War: E-Day is not just our next major game; it’s a return to what makes Gears of War games special and authentic. We’re pleased to be partnering with the talented folks at People Can Fly, who have been a part of our franchise’s legacy for so long.” Both studios agree the decision is the best way forward for the franchise’s prequel.

Development decisions aside, since an announcement trailer at the SGF Xbox Games Showcase 2024, The Coalition has been tight-lipped regarding the next entry in Gears of War. The trailer can be seen below.
