PQube just announced that their pixel art thriller, STAY, will be going out on PS4 and the Nintendo Switch.
STAY debuted earlier this year on Xbox One and the PC, and follows a story of Quinn, who got abducted and stuck in an abandoned house. Every second counts, as the player must help Quinn escape using just a computer hooked to a chat room.
The game plays out in real-time, which means for every minute the player is away from the game, Quinn gets affected. If players leave Quinn alone for too long, there may be dire consequences.
Having empathy for Quinn matters in STAY, too. Players who convince Quinn that they are a compassionate ally would be given privy to his deepest thoughts. Without compassion, Quinn’s emotions might even work against the goal of escape.
There’s an emphasis on how their choices can affect the life of someone else, since puzzles in STAY vary from moving objects to riddles, or answering math questions. Coupled with conversations with Quinn, these puzzles let players think about the consequences of their decisions and behaviour.
