Square Enix took a page from the Nintendo playbook this year by hosting a 30 minute long pre-recorded video as their press conference, and despite the format, the hits were no less impressive. For example, fans of games produced by Platinum Games will be especially excited to know that the next major Platinum Games video-game was announced during this pre-taped conference. The game has few firm details, but we know that it will be called Babylon’s Fall.

With all the knights it is hard to not expect a game set during the Crusades.

The setting, characters, and the title of the game all suggest that Babylon’s Fall will somehow be associated with the ancient Mesopotamian city of Babylon; however, that doesn’t mean this game is going to be a history lesson. Based on our history it is not hard to figure out that any association to Babylonia is very loose, as the trailer shows an air-ship in flight which simply didn’t exist in ancient times.

There also appears to be a supernatural aspect to the game as well. The trailer we saw makes some reference to an unknown event called the Awakening. During the Awakening, we are shown two Crusade era knights fighting until the losing knight turns the fight around with a number of beams of light. This light somehow leaps out of his body to stabs the other knight. Unfortunately, Square Enix did not provide any more information about this game at this point. The announcement simply ended with the news that this game will be released at some point in 2019 on PlayStation 4 and PC.
