PlayStation Plus Enters the PS5 Age with Solid Lineup

Plus members will have plenty to play on PS5

PlayStation Plus Enters the PS5 Age with Solid Lineup 2

In November, PlayStation Plus will increase its free offerings for members to three titles as the PlayStation 5 launches.

Members will receive the usual two selections for PlayStation 4. This month’s features are the brutal but beautiful Metroidvania Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition and the Tolkien-inspired Middle-Earth: Shadow of War. Both will be available from November 3 until the end of the month.

Early PS5 adopters will receive a third game: Bugsnax, the cartoonish first-person adventure title from Young Horses. Players explore an island of “legendary half-bug half-snack creatures,” hunting 100 different varieties. (Notably, this promotion does not apply to the PS4 version; only PS5 owners will be able to add the game to their Plus library for free.)

Bugsnax will be available for free via Plus from November 12 until January 4, 2021, so those who don’t get the system immediately have a short grace period.

Sony has also announced details on its PlayStation Plus Collection. A bevy of formerly-featured titles will be available to all PS Plus members at the PS5’s launch, November 12. As usual, once a game is redeemed from the Collection, members keep it for as long as their memberships are active. These PS4 titles will benefit from the PS5’s improvements, such as increased loading speed and more stable framerates. Many will also benefit from the Game Help feature in the PS5’s “User Experience” hub, which offers tips and hints while blocking spoilers.

The games included in the PlayStation Plus Collection are:

  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Battlefield 1
  • Bloodborne
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Zombies Chronicles Edition
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition
  • God of War
  • Infamous Second Son
  • Monster Hunter: World
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Persona 5
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • Resident Evil 7 biohazard
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • Until Dawn
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Existing PlayStation Plus members who manage to get a new console this month will have no shortage of things to play without even needing to purchase a new game, between this curated selection, the preinstalled Astro’s Playroom, and any PS4 games they already own.
