The Pokemon Company has officially announced Generation 10 as Pokémon Wind and Waves, launching in 2027 for Nitnendo Switch 2.
Closing out the February Pokémon Presents, we got a lengthy three-minute look at the setting and gameplay of Wind and Waves, and of course the thing everyone cares about, new starters.
The three new starters are a the water-type Gecqua, fire-type Pombon, and grass-type Browt. As you’d expect, there’s already heated arguments on social media over which one is superior. You can in-game images for each one below, along with their official art.

Wind and Waves sports a distinctly tropical setting setting, filled with vast oceans, sandy beaches, dense jungles, and possibly even underwater exploration. We don’t currently know the name of this new region but at least in terms of the environment, this looks to be a fairly drastic step up from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The trailer also doesn’t give us a look at the battle system, so we don’t know if it will be traditional turn-based or more like the Legends games.
We do, however, have official art of the new trainers. There’s also a bizzare new detail, as Wind and Waves will introduce two new “special” Pikachu named Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu (no I’m not joking). You can see them as well as the trainers below. These two Pikachu will seemingly play a role in the story, with their description saying “”Just how could these Pikachu be involved in your adventure? Look forward to future announcements.”

It was overall a big day for the series, as the presents also announced Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness will be coming to Switch Online, and Pokémon Champions will finally be released in April, on both Switch and mobile.
