At the last Pokémon Presents in July 2025, it was announced that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Shiny Wo-Chien distribution would begin if it was bested over a million times, so here’s how to get one.
The Pokémon Company revealed a series of Tera Raid battles that fans would need to compete in to obtain some rare creatures in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet during last month’s Pokémon Presents, and the results have been revealed today. If fans were able to best a Shiny Wo-Chien (one of Scarlet and Violet’s Treasures of Ruin Legendary Pokémon) in raids over a million times, the shiny variant of Wo-Chien would be given to fans as a reward, and this time, fans have succeeded.

The Pokémon Company has announced today that fans have walloped the first Treasure of Ruin 6,078,885 times, which more than meets the million mark requirement. To celebrate the huge achievement for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players globally, fans can now claim the Shiny Wo-Chien for themselves. Previously, Game FREAK announced Wo-Chien was one of the ‘shiny locked’ creatures in Scarlet and Violet —which means the shiny variant was not unlocked in the game’s code as obtainable yet— so the distribution is the first and only legitimate way to obtain the Legendary Pokémon variant.
Fans can boot up their Pokémon Scarlet and Violet copy, and Select Poké Portal on the X menu to start. Then, navigate to the “Mystery Gift” option and select “Get via Internet” to connect to the internet. After that, you have to select which gift you would like to receive, and then presto, you now have a Shiny Wo-Chien. Fans should make sure they save their game afterwards to avoid any issues; only one distribution will be available per save file. Interestingly enough, fans can still obtain the Shiny Wo-Chien even if they have not participated in the Tera Raid battles that were required to get it in the first place, so everyone wins!
As the Shiny Wo-Chien distribution is underway, fans will have until September 30 to claim the Legendary Treasure of Ruin, so there’s still a lot of time left. Until then, next up in the Tera Raid schedule is a Shiny Chien-Pao, and like Wo-Chien, if it is defeated over a million times, fans can collect the shiny variant for their collection via distribution after the fact.
