The Swedish Indie publisher, Raw Fury, in collaboration with Fool Moon, has announced Hillthorn, a dark investigative title that forces you to keep your mouth closed.
Hillthorn is an indie title set on a mountaintop, where even the locals get lost, and you play an outsider detective tasked with finding a missing child. The catch is, there is absolutely no dialogue in Hillthorn, and there’s a constantly ticking clock telling you time is moving, so your work is cut out for you. Raw Fury and Fool Moon have released a new brief trailer showcasing the dark mystery and card-based gameplay just below.
Raw Fury is known for publishing fan-favourite indie titles since it was founded in 2015, launching over 50 indie titles since then. Raw Fury gives independent developers with a vision a chance to get their title out onto the big stage, and in some cases, swoops in to offer a title already in development a path forward to get into players’ hands. Raw Fury is responsible for hit titles like the critically acclaimed Esoteric Ebb, Cassette Beasts and West of Dead, covering numerous genres in the indie space. Fool Moon’s Hillthorn is just the next at bat, and it’s seemingly in good hands.
Hillthorn Key Features
- A World on the Tabletop – Every eerie and unsettling detail of Hillthorn‘s story and lore is revealed entirely through Clue cards, which can be investigated, explored, or, in some instances, communicated with (without dialogue), in your search to get closer to the truth behind the disappearance of the child that has gone missing.
- You’ve been tasked to find a missing person, but you are a stranger to the locals. It’ll take some finesse to draw information from residents, who don’t appear willing to share with outsiders.
- Time is Ticking – The clock is constantly on the move, even when the player hasn’t finished tasks. There are too many threads to follow in this mystery and too little time. So players will need to explore every thread to find out what’s happening in the unsettling town. Hillthorn is keen on letting you revisit untrodden paths, and it’s up to the player to persist until the child is found.

Raw Fury boasts that the new title from Fool Moon has a “knowledge as progression” approach, and Hillthorn will feature multiple endings. Fool Moon also explicitly stated that no generative AI was used in this game’s development. Hillthorn can be wishlisted on Steam today, and a demo is up now for those who want to dive into the mystery.
