The rumours around a Resident Evil 0 remake continue to bear more weight, as a well-known actor has been tied to the mystery project.
The Resident Evil remake games have been killing it for Capcom, so why not keep remaking all their greatest hits? The rumours around a Resident Evil 0 remake continue to bear more weight, as a well-known actor has been tied to the mystery project. Hidden development gossip began last year with claimed remakes for Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. But new evidence suggests this actor attached to the secret project titled Project Chamber confirms who they will play as one of the leading characters.
Last year’s information on Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica came from Dusk Golem, a well-known source on the game series. But now, MP1st recently discovered the connection with Jon McLaren and the possible upcoming remake game. McLaren is best known for voicing Star Lord in Eidos-Montréal’s Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The working title Project Chamber also comes close to Resident Evil 0‘s main protagonist, Rebecca Chambers. However, McLaren supposedly looks similar to the other playable character, convict Billy Coen, making it possible that McLaren is playing the character.
On top of this information and connection, McLaren confirmed his Project Chamber work was done at Beyond Capture Studios, a casting and capturing studio which specialises in video games. This is the same studio which was in charge of casting, performance capture and motion capture work for the Resident Evil 4 remake and its Separate Ways DLC, making it likely that Capcom would be using its services again for future Resident Evil remakes.

So far, Capcom found much success with its remakes for Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4. Capcom even stated in 2023 that they were considering the possibilities of remaking titles that were not necessarily part of the numbered series. The company continued to talk about expanding the universe, and what better way then to remake their classic titles for a modern audience.
The next major release is the ninth installment in the main game series, Resident Evil Requiem, which is another highly anticipated sequel from Capcom. The video game publisher/developer is on track of releasing a main game and then a remake, so Resident Evil 0 will likely be next to get its chance to shine on modern graphics and gameplay. If not this title, maybe Dusk Golem’s other pick, Code Veronica, will be seeing the light of day in 2027 or 2028.
