New Roguelike, Rewilders: The Lost Spring, Announced by BAFTA-Winning Herobeat Studios

Herobeat Studios introduces Rewilders: The Lost Spring to the world, a game that was described in the release as “genre-bending”.

So, that could mean anything. But in the case of Rewilders, players can expect an “open-world action roguelite with creature collection and metroidvania-like progression”. That’s a lot all packed into one game, but Herobeat Studios appears to be up to the challenge. Just three years ago, Herobeat was awarded the Games Beyond Entertainment BAFTA for their debut title, Endling: Extinction and was also nominated for Games for Impact at The Game Awards. Rewilders: The Lost Spring is the next game coming from the studio.

The team has stated that Rewilders is not a formal successor to Endlings; however, “players can expect echoes of Endling’s heartfelt storytelling, lovingly designed aesthetics and score within, filled with messages that last well after the credits have finished rolling.”

In Rewilders: The Lost Spring, players follow Abi, who aims to return to the surface of a once-poisoned world to restore the wild and locate her lost family. As the story progresses and the world heals, new people return to the surface and the Hântu are reawakened, helping to expand Abi’s abilities. Players will spend their time levelling up the Hântu, taking them out on runs, discovering new items and abilities, light farming, rebuilding ecosystems and more.

Rewilders: The Lost Spring Mechanics & Features:

  • Creature collecting — collect Hântu, native creatures with active abilities, status effects, and passive bonuses.
  • Fast-paced third-person combat combining melee, ranged, and Hântu skills.
  • Roguelite elements with randomized rewards, enemies, and starting points, plus a forgiving death and respawn systems.
  • Interconnected world with metroidvania-style progression using gliders, wall runs, grapples and more.
  • Base-building system: grow plants and fruits to level up your Hântu and unlock permanent buffs.
  • Narrative progression: choose between Memory or Hatred to shape your build and gameplay path.

Herobeat Studios sounds hopeful for Rewilders: The Lost Spring, but can the same be said for the world inside the game? “Will they restore the memory of the world that was… or let hatred reshape it into something new?” Stay up-to-date on Rewilders: The Lost Spring on the official website, and wishlist the game on Steam now.
