Horrifying ROUTINE Finally Gets December Release Date 13 Years After Its Announcement

Raw Fury’s Sci-Fi horror title, ROUTINE, is finally being released after 13 years of development, and it will be available day one for Xbox Game Pass.

After 13 long years, today’s ID@Xbox showcase featured the announcement that ROUTINE, a sci-fi horror, finally has a release date. It will arrive on December 4. To get fans up to speed, back in 2012, Lunar Software announced their Sci-Fi space horror title, Routine, approved by the then-active Steam Greenlight program.

The Steam Greenlight program was instituted as a way for fans to vote on which indie games they’d like to see added to the Steam platform, and devs would submit their titles to Greenlight. Fans would then vote on the titles, and after enough votes were tallied, indie titles would be considered for release on Steam’s marketplace. One of these fan-voted titles, ROUTINE by Raw Fury, it had a then-scheduled release date in 2013. ROUTINE recently came back into the spotlight after Raw Fury re-revealed it back in July 2025, with the developers saying they’re nearing the “finish line.” A new release date trailer has also been revealed, and it can be seen below.

CGMagazine’s hands-on preview with ROUTINE at gamescom 2025 says, despite its long and winding history, Raw Fury accomplishes what they’ve set out to do, and states, “If the demo is any indication, ROUTINE is shaping up to be a horror experience well worth exploring.” Just last week, the developers shared a Q&A session on Steam where they covered aspects of creating the game and restarting the title’s development in Unreal Engine 4. The developers also leave a potential PlayStation port in limbo, stating, “Right now, we are focused on launching the game on Steam and Xbox platforms. We may announce more platforms in the future, but we currently can’t make any guarantees.”

Raw Fury’s 13 years in the making sci-fi horror title will launch on Xbox Game Pass day one, and PC on December 4.
